About the event
About half of those with Parkinson’s will be affected by mild cognitive impairment. Issues and Parkinson’s symptoms associated with mood, sleep, medications or other medical problems can all look like dementia. As the disease progresses, people living with PD can develop more significant or severe memory and thinking problems. Dementia or significant cognitive decline can also seriously impact care partners. To best care for those living with the disease, care partners need to have an arsenal of support and resources help them in their family's PD journey.
Come and connect with others, gain knowledge and leave with new tools that will help you navigate your caregiver journey. There will be panel discussions on effective communication, understanding dementia related behaviors, exploring care & support services and more. PGO will be providing information on free resources for Parkinson's care partners. Representatives will also be on hand to offer information on elder law, financial planning, care facility options, and a variety of community resources.
Refreshments and a light lunch will be served, courtesy of AARP Missouri.
